Special Event | “Niger Delta Investment Summit”
The Niger Delta Investment Summit is a high-level interactive session during the Forum that aims to bring together leading politicians and business practitioners from around the world to discuss development and business opportunities in the region. The participants will speak on the progress made post-amnesty deal and how this affects the inhabitants, oil companies, investment climate, and the country as a whole. The summit will give Niger Delta policymakers an international platform to address serious perception and image problems about the area.

RT. HON. ROTIMI AMAECHI
Governor, Rivers State
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Rivers State Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was born May 27, 1965, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. He attended the Government Secondary School, Okolobiri, (now in Bayelsa State) in 1982. Thereafter, he obtained both a Bachelor of Arts and Masters degree in English at the University of Port Harcourt. Upon leaving the University, Governor Amaechi started his working career as Public Relations Officer (PRO) with the Pamo Clinics and Hospitals Limited, Port Harcourt. He later joined the National Republican Convention (NRC), and he was elected Secretary of the Party in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
In 1992, he was appointed a Special Assistant to the then Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, who later became the Governor. In 1999 he was unanimously elected Speaker of the State Assembly representing Ikwerre Constituency. In October 2007 he was elected Governor of Rivers State.Governor Amaechi is widely traveled, and he has attended several legislative strengthening programs, courses and seminars in the United States of America, Canada and the United Kingdom. He is an honorary member of the Louisiana House of Representatives in the United States.
Governor Amaechi is married with three sons.

CHIEF UFOT JOSEPH EKAETTE
Minister, Niger Delta Affairs
Chief Ufot Joseph Ekaette, CFR was born in Ikot Edor, Onna Local Government of Akwa Ibom State. He attended the prestigious King’s College Lagos and went on to pursue a Bachelors degree in Economics at the University of Ibadan. He was bestowed with an honorary Doctor of Science in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Chief Ekaette has held several government positions, including serving as Principal Secretary to the Head of State of Nigeria from 1968-75, as Permanent Secretary in two ministries and most recently, serving two terms as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) under President Obasanjo. In 2000 Chief Ekaette received the national honor of Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, CFR. He is happily married with children.

SENATOR LIYEL IMOKE
Governor, Cross Rivers State
Governor Liyel Imoke was born July 10, 1961 in Ibadan, Nigeria. He had his early education in Nigeria but enrolled for a Bachelors Degree in International Relations and Economics at the University of Maryland, College Park in the United States. After graduation, he went on to study law at the University of Buckingham, England, earning an LLB degree in 1985. Imoke went on to pursue a Masters in Law at the American University in Washington, DC. He completed his legal training at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos in 1988. After practicing law in Washington DC and Lagos, he ventured into business with interests in oil and gas, construction, communication, merchandising and management consultancy. In 1992 at the age of 30, he was elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and he became the youngest legislator in the history of the Senate.
The Governor has held several government positions, some of which include Special Adviser to the President on Public Utilities, Chairman of the Technical Board of the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), and Minister of Power and Steel. He was elected Governor of Cross River State on April 14, 2007.
Governor Imoke has received many awards including the ThisDay Award for “Best Governor in Tourism Development” for 2008. He is a member of the Nigeria Bar Association, Honorary Fellow of the Nigeria Society of Engineers and Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration, amongst others.
He is married to Mrs. Obioma Liyel Imoke, herself a lawyer, business and political leader and a champion for children and women rights. Their marriage is blessed with children.

Chamberlain Peterside is the Founder & CEO of New Era Capital Corporation. He previously worked as Certified Financial Manager (CFM) and Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch, Global Private Client Group and HSBC Brokerage USA, Inc. in New York, where he helped investors develop financial strategies for managing their portfolios. He has been instrumental in orchestrating and executing several international projects in the oil and gas, telecommunications, infrastructure and the financial industry.
He is author of two books on finance and economic development. His expert opinion has been featured frequently in various industry events and print and electronic media, including CNN (In the Money), RTN and RTVi (Russian TV Channels). In 2007 he was honored with a Congressional Citation by 110th session of US Houses of Representatives.
